EA has unveiled The Sims 4 Cottage Living, the latest expansion pack for The Sims 4, due out in July.
The Sims 4 Cottage Living takes The Sims to Henford-on-Bagley, a quaint country village, where players can build the cottage of their dreams. But what we’re most excited about is that this new expansion finally adds a feature that Sims fans have been asking for: farming.
The revealing Cottage Living trailer shows Sims their own plots of land, where they can tend and grow vegetables. While this is already something the series is enabling, it looks like more veg will be available for cultivation – and on a larger scale. The trailer shows Sims growing huge pumpkins that they can win prizes for at a Country Fair. Additionally, it looks like players will be able to raise chickens and cows as well.
Breathe this country air
Not only will players be able to take care of and raise their animals, but they will also be able to customize them. The trailer shows multicolored cows, chickens in top hats, and even rabbits and llamas in sweaters.
But it’s worth keeping the animals on your safe side, especially the forest wildlife, who will bring you occasional gifts and help in the garden if you’ve earned their trust.
In addition, players can go down to the pub to do cross stitch or with a picnic basket to get to know the locals. While it looks like the cranky Mrs. Crumplebottom is making a comeback in this expansion, a bitter NPC we haven’t seen since The Sims 3. No doubt she’ll scold players at every opportunity.
The Sims 4 Cottage Living is available July 22, 2021 for PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PS4, with pre-orders available now.
