Mirabai Chanu thanked everyone and said, it was like a dream that came true

New Delhi. After winning the silver medal in weightlifting competition in Tokyo Olympics 2020, Mirabai Chanu thanked everyone and said that it was like a dream that came true. Chanu said, “I would like to dedicate my medal to my country and would like to thank the people that they prayed for me during my journey. Chanu said that I would like to thank my family on this occasion, especially my mother, who sacrificed a lot for me and reposed faith in me. Chanu said that special thanks to our government for supporting me, thanks to the Sports Ministry, SAI, IOA, Weightlifting Federation of India, Railways, OGQ, sponsors and my marketing agency for their continuous support in this journey. I would like to thank my coach Vijay Sharma and the staff, these people helped me in training by motivating me. Many thanks once again to all the people of the country and the weightlifting fraternity, Jai Hind.

On this happy occasion, Mirabai’s father Kirti Singh said, I am very happy that my daughter has won silver medal in Olympics. This is like a dream come true. My daughter faced a lot of difficulties in the beginning. He is very hardworking. She used to go to Khuman Lampak Stadium, 35 km away, for practice while sitting on top of trucks. I am proud of my daughter who has given a happy moment to the country.
