Jaipur. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Emergency Landing Field (ELF). Apart from this, he will observe aeronautical activities on the emergency landing field on the Gandhav-Bakhasar section (National Highway-925) south of Barmer in Rajasthan on September 9, 2021. This is the first time that a national highway will be used for emergency landing of Indian Air Force aircraft.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has prepared a three-km stretch of 41/430 ​​km to 44/430 km of Satta-Gandhav on National Highway-925A as an Emergency Landing Field (ELF) for the Indian Air Force. The landing facility is part of the two-lane Gagaria-Bhakhasar and Satta-Gandhav sections of the recently developed Khandze elevated elevated (in the form of sidewalks). Its total length is 196.97 km and its cost is Rs 765.52 crore. It has been built under the Bharatmala project.

This project will improve connectivity between the border villages of Barmer and Jalore district. This part is located in the western border area and this will increase the vigilance of the Indian Army and the infrastructure of the country will also be strengthened. Apart from this emergency landing strip, three helipads of size 100 in to 30 meters have also been made in Kundanpura, Singhania and Bhakhasar villages keeping in mind the requirements of the Air Force/Indian Army. With this construction, the Indian Army and the security system on the western international border of the country will be strengthened. ELF was created within 19 months. The construction work for ELF started in July 2019 and was completed in January 2921. This construction work under the supervision of Indian Air Force and NHAI is done by M/s GHV India Pvt. was did. On normal days ELF will be used for uninterrupted traffic, but when the Air Force needs this ELF for its activities, service road will be used for traffic. Traffic can also move smoothly from the service road. The length of the ELF is 3.5 km. All types of aircraft of the Indian Air Force will be able to land on this landing strip.
