London . The Czech Republic said its country would “under no circumstances recognize the Taliban. However, the country’s Foreign Minister Jacob Kulhanek said that it would still be necessary to maintain contact with the organization. He said that we find ourselves in a situation where the Taliban are the new masters of Afghanistan. I am not happy with it, but we have to accept the reality. On behalf of the Czech Republic, I can say that we are not going to recognize the Taliban under any circumstances. The minister stressed the importance of a common EU approach towards the Taliban.

“In particular, we are prepared to participate in tackling migration issues in the region because we certainly do not want illegal migrants from Afghanistan to come to Europe,” Kulhanek said. The situation in Afghanistan has dominated the international agenda since the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul in mid-August, with major global and regional powers trying to find ways to ensure stability and security in Central Asia.
