Allu Arjun’s latest film Pushpa has made a successful start. The film has been released in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Within two days of its release on December 17, the film had grossed over 100 crores at the box office worldwide. The film, directed by Sukumar, grossed Rs 173 crore worldwide, according to Indian Express.
Following the release of Pan India, the film was promoted by producers and actors including Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandana in various cities across the country. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film has grossed $ 21 million (approximately Rs 159 crore) globally and topped the global box office charts. At the top of the list is Tom Holland’s Spider-Man No Way Home with $ 587 million and Sheep Without a Shepherd 2 with $ 54 million.
The 38-year-old has a huge fan base in Kerala. Bala added that the film has grossed Rs 6.40 crore in three days in the state.
The film revolves around Pushpa Raj, a red sandalwood smuggler who is involved in smuggling. The three – hour film received a mixed response from critics. In his review for News9, Siddharth Srinivas said, “This film could have been made better if it was clear what kind of film it wants to be. As it is planned in two parts, Sukumar seems to have stretched his content too far, keeping only the funny episodes and smoothing out the rest.”
Commenting on Arjun’s performance, he added, “Allu Arjun is the one who keeps the movement going throughout the film.” Fahad Fazil also plays an important role in the film.
The film also has a sequel titled Pushpa: The Rule. Will be released sometime in 2022.
