Oprah Winfrey is the Executive Producer at the Sydney Poitier Documentary Apple

Apple Studios is in the midst of filming a documentary about the Hollywood icon Sydney Poitier, who died Jan. 6 at his home in Beverly Hills at the age of 94.

According to the deadline, media magnet Oprah Winfrey has been associated with the project as executive producer. The film is directed by Reginald Hadlin and is based on an Oscar winner.

The documentary has been wrapped up and produced for over a year. The 1963 film Lilies of the Field is described as an in-depth look at the life of Poetier, the first black man to win the Academy Award for Best Actor.

The film, which was released by Apple Original Films, also features the involvement of his family.

Winfrey produces through its Harpo Productions and Network Entertainment.

Poetry is credited with helping to open the door for other minority performers after acting twists and turns in Hollywood classics such as In the Heat of the Night and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner. And with love to Sir.
