Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted to a Mumbai hospital after Kovid 19 tested positive. The 92-year-old singer is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
According to a News 18 report, a source said, “She has other health problems and doctors are closely monitoring her condition based on her age.”
Mankeshkar was admitted to the hospital in November 2019 after suffering from shortness of breath. She was discharged 28 days later. Mangeshkar took to Twitter to inform fans that she was recovering.
“For the past 28 days, I have been at Breach Candy Hospital. I was diagnosed with pneumonia. The doctors loved to extend my stay in the hospital and return home in full health. Today, I returned home with the blessings of Mai and Baba. I bow humbly, “Mangeshkar wrote.
In September last year, Mangeshkar celebrated his 92nd birthday with his next of kin. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the legendary singer a happy birthday. He called Mangeshkar a legendary singer and an inspiration to generations of singers.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Happy Birthday to the Honorable Lata Didi. Her eloquent voice resonates around the world. Her modesty and passion for Indian culture are respected. Personally, her blessings are a great strength. I pray for Lata Didi’s long and healthy life.”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also greeted the legendary singer. “Lata Deedee’s life is a melodious verse.
“I wish her a long life. Her musical voice and the songs she sang have been enjoyed by generations. She has preserved the originality of various tunes from classical music and brought that melody to the common man in the form of various songs,” the Chief Minister said.
I have personally experienced the decades-long relationship between Thackeray and Mangeshkar since my childhood, ”he added.
Known as the Queen of Melody and the Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar began her career in 1942 at the age of 13 and has sung over 25,000 songs in various languages.
Although the list of popular songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar is endless, some of the tracks sung by the Indian film musician in her more than seven decade career include Ajeeb Dastan Hey Yeh, Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Neela Asman. Mangeshkar has received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, France’s highest civilian honor, the Officer of the Legion of Honor, and several national and international awards. In 1974, she was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in history. Regarded as one of the best playback singers in Indian cinema, she was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in 2001.
