Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is being monitored in the ICU of a city hospital, her doctor said on Saturday.

The 92-year-old singer was tested positive for the corona virus with mild symptoms and was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai last week.

Dr Pratit Sandani, an associate professor at Breach Candy Hospital, said Mangeshkar would remain in hospital for some time.

“She is being monitored in the ICU. We will have to wait and see. Pray for her recovery. She will remain in the hospital,” Samadani told PTI.

On Thursday, Mankeshkar’s daughter – in – law Rachana Shah said that the singer was fine.

“She is doing well and we are happy with her. Everyone’s prayers have been answered. Please keep our privacy in mind,” Shah told PTI.

Shah says Mangeshkar was admitted to the ICU because he needed “constant care” as he got older.

Regarded as one of the best singers in Indian cinema, Mangeshkar began her career in 1942 at the age of 13 and has over 30,000 songs in various Indian languages ​​to her credit.

In her career spanning over seven decades, she has sung many memorable tracks such as ‘Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh’, ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’, Neela Asman So Gaya and ‘Tere Liye’.

The singer – also known as the Nightingale of India – has been honored with numerous awards and accolades, including the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Vibhushan, the Dada Sahib Phalke Award and multiple National Film Awards.

She has also won the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.
