Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar She was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai after battling Kovid-19 and succumbed to her injuries on February 6, 2022 due to health problems related to the virus. The news was confirmed by PTI quoting her sister Usha Mangeshkar. Earlier on February 5, Dr Pratib Sandani, a doctor at Breach Candy Hospital, said the senior singer was in critical condition and had been admitted to a ventilator.

The singer, also known as the Melody Queen of India, was treated for about a month after being admitted on January 8 after a Kovid-19 positive test. The 92-year-old singer had previously been supported by a ventilator due to her age, however, after showing signs of improvement she was later given a trial of exhalation (from an aggressive ventilator).

“Lata Didi is undergoing treatment in the ICU of Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. She was given a trial excision (from the invasive ventilator) this morning,” her family said in a statement.

“Currently, she is showing signs of progress but will continue to be monitored by a team of doctors led by Dr Pratib Samdani. We thank each and every one of you for your prayers and greetings,” it added.

The 92-year-old, who tested positive for the corona virus with mild symptoms, was admitted to the ICU of Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai on January 8. Regarded as one of the best singers in Indian cinema, Mangeshkar began her career in 1942 at the age of 13 and has over 30,000 songs in various Indian languages ​​to her credit. Mangeshkar has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Vibhushan, the Dada Sahib Phalke Award, and several National Film Awards. She has also won the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.
